Take Three: What’s the rub on memory sessions?

I’ve been looking into long-term memory for a while, but I haven't found a single solution that’s actually manageable. Personally, I just don't think it's a good idea to have the AI write the rules on how it's supposed to behave. I originally tried mem palace.rs but couldn't get it to work at all, so I abandoned it. Then I tried the Claude.md way and found that over time, all your tokens just get spent reading previous sessions. I even tried using Claude.md as a central index file that points to other files, but I just got annoyed managing a whole slew of separate markdown files.
