Maxim Lott began tracking AI IQ in May 2024. Back then the top model scored about 80. By October 2025, the leading AI scored 130, representing a rapid increase over roughly 17 months. Since then, however, the top score on Lott's leaderboard has remained at 130. This may suggest either that achieving further gains is becoming much harder, or that measuring very high AI IQs requires new methodologies. Ryan Shea has now launched a new AI IQ leaderboard that appears designed to address this challenge.
