Open LinkedIn right now. I guarantee that within three scrolls you will see someone announce they built an “AI agent.” It sends an email. It summarizes a PDF. It fills out a form. That is not an agent. The term “AI agent” has been stretched so wide it has lost almost all meaning. At the same time, a much important idea, agentic AI, gets used interchangeably with it. The two are not the same thing. The difference matters than most people realize, especially if you are building systems that are supposed to actually work in production. Let me break it down.
