Sam Altman makes 'mic drop' offer to every Y Combinator startup

Just read this on techcrunch. OpenAI is putting $2M worth of API tokens into every company in the current YC batch (~169 startups) via an uncapped SAFE that converts at their next priced round. roughly 2% equity if they hit a $100M valuation. YC takes 7% for $500k cash. this is on top of that, so founders aren't choosing between them. but the dynamic is wild. on one hand, infra bills are the silent killer of AI startups right now. solving that with tokens instead of cash is genuinely useful.
